Maartens Lourens

Maartens Lourens has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the technology industry. Maartens is currently working at Mesh-AI as a Principal Consultant, where they help transform enterprises into data-driven and AI enabled organizations. Prior to this, they served as a Lead Consultant at Mesh-AI, helping the company grow and scale globally.

Before joining Mesh-AI, Lourens founded Thunderclap Interactive and served as the Chief Engineer. Maartens developed Talespin AI, a creative writing collaborator in its early Beta stage. Additionally, they worked as an Advisor at EVERIMPACT, where they advised the startup on their IT operations and platform design to measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Lourens gained extensive experience at Automation Logic, where they held multiple roles. As a Machine Learning Engineer, they built an Analytics and Machine Learning platform and researched AIOps using various techniques. Maartens also served as a DataOps and DevSecOps Engineer for a financial organization, leading a team to build a secure Analytics Platform on Google's Cloud Platform.

At OpenCredo, Lourens worked as a Machine Learning Engineer, conducting research on data insights and machine learning processes. During their sabbatical at THUNDERCLAP PUBLISHING LTD, they managed the creative promotion of their published novel, utilizing machine learning to generate vocabulary.

Their work at OpenCredo also included roles such as Kubernetes and Continuous Delivery, where they focused on automating continuous delivery platforms, and DevOps Engineer, where they installed and managed vCloud stack and facilitated cloud migrations for clients. Maartens also worked as a DevOps Engineer at OpenCredo's sister company, CloudCredo, developing Cloud Foundry broker services.

Earlier in their career, Lourens served as a Linux Administrator at Close Premium Finance, responsible for maintaining Linux servers. Maartens also worked as a System Engineer and Consultant at Aethernet Ltd., where they focused on building and adapting open-source technologies in the data center industry.

Maartens Lourens has a diverse education history that includes both a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Psychology from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, obtained from 2000 to 2005, and a Datametrics degree in Computer Science and IT from the same institution, attained from 2002 to 2003. Prior to that, from 1994 to 1996, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Philosophy, and Psychology at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria.

Additionally, Maartens Lourens has obtained certifications in Natural Language Processing with Classification and Vector Spaces from Coursera in February 2022, as well as in Deep Neural Networks with Pytorch from Coursera in July 2020.
