Janne Hyyti

Janne Hyyti is an accomplished Optical Scientist at Meta, specializing in waveguide design and optics research for augmented reality devices since October 2022. Previously, Janne served as a Research Scientist at Dispelix Oy, where research focused on diffractive optical waveguides from August 2021 to October 2022. As Tech Lead and Optical Engineer at OPTOFIDELITY between November 2018 and August 2021, Janne led the design and implementation of optical testing solutions for AR/VR devices. Prior experience includes doctoral research at the Max Born Institute between 2014 and 2018, with a focus on nonlinear optics and ultrashort laser pulse characterization. A foundational role as a Research Assistant was held at the Optoelectronics Research Centre from 2011 to 2013, working on ultrafast nonlinear optics. Janne’s career commenced as a Software Trainee at Solteq Oyj in 2008, translating ERP software. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Experimental Physics/Optics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a Master of Science in Optics/Optical Sciences from Tampere University of Technology.
