John Flores-McLaughlin is a seasoned professional in radiation safety and analysis with extensive experience across multiple high-profile organizations. At NASA, from November 2009 to April 2018, John served as a Senior Research Scientist within the Space Radiation Analysis Group, specializing in non-ionizing radiation safety for crewed spaceflight programs. Currently, John holds the position of Global Radiation and Laser Safety Manager at Meta’s Reality Labs, while also contributing as a US Technical Advisory Group Member for the International Electrotechnical Commission. Prior roles include an adjunct professor at New Mexico Junior College, where John taught courses in Nuclear Reactor Theory and Radiation Detection Instrumentation, and internships at Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
