Lawrence Atkins

Lawrence Atkins is a Machine Learning Engineer currently working at Meta since July 2024, focusing on video generation. Prior to this role, Lawrence served as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Speechmatics from February 2022 to June 2024, where the focus was on training large-scale self-supervised transformers to enhance automatic speech recognition systems. Lawrence's experience also includes a position as a Machine Learning Engineer and a Machine Learning Intern at the University of Cambridge between September 2020 and June 2021, during which a research project was completed with a 1st Class mark in the Artificial Intelligence Group of the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology. Additionally, a research internship at The Cyprus Institute involved developing a machine learning approach to locate mosquito breeding sites using satellite imagery. Lawrence holds a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences (Physical) with a specialization in Physics from the University of Cambridge, completed in 2021, and previously attended Hills Road Sixth Form College for A-Level education from September 2015 to June 2017.
