Pavel Avgustinov

Pavel Avgustinov is a seasoned software engineer currently serving as the tech lead for Meta's Developer Products organization since April 2023, focused on enhancing productivity for Meta developers through AI technologies. Prior to this role, Pavel held the position of VP of Software Engineering at GitHub from November 2019 to April 2023, primarily overseeing security products and supporting code search and navigation teams. Pavel also served as Senior Director of Software Engineering at Semmle from January 2007 to November 2019 and was the VP of Platform Engineering at the same company. Educationally, Pavel completed a DPhil in Computer Science at the University of Oxford, with a doctoral thesis on trace monitoring, and holds a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science from the same institution. Early work experience includes a freelance software developer role at DIaLOGIKa from 2002 to 2004.
