Shih-En Wei

Shih-En Wei is a highly skilled research scientist with extensive experience in the fields of machine learning, computer vision, and robotics. Wei served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute from August 2014 to May 2016, and as a Research Scientist at Meta from March 2019 to March 2021, where responsibilities included leading teams in creating photorealistic Codec Avatars using VR/AR device sensors, as well as working on face, eye, and body tracking technologies. Currently, Shih-En holds the position of Director Research Scientist at Meta since March 2024. Previous positions include a Machine Learning Software Engineer Internship at NVIDIA and research roles at the Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center and the Institute of Information Science at Academia Sinica. Shih-En Wei earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and two Master's Degrees, one in Machine Learning and Computer Vision from Carnegie Mellon University and another in Communication Engineering from National Taiwan University, with notable academic achievements in all programs.
