Varun Nagaraja

Varun Nagaraja possesses extensive experience in research and development within the fields of audio generation, multimodal agents, and machine learning. An undergraduate internship at the Indian Institute of Science involved text detection in natural scene images. Varun has held key positions at Meta since September 2020 as a Senior Staff Research Scientist, focusing on audio generation for various applications and developing efficient on-device methods for Automatic Speech Recognition and related technologies. Previous roles include research internships at Amazon, where Varun contributed to wakeword detection systems for the Amazon Echo, and over five years as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Maryland, specializing in object detection techniques. Varun also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for programming courses at the University of Maryland and holds a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
