Leo D'Espaux

Leo d'Espaux's work experience begins in 2023, where they are employed at Metagenomi as the Director of RNA Biology Genome Editing. Prior to this, from 2021 to 2023, they worked at Jasper Therapeutics as the Director of Nucleic Acid and Cell Engineering. Before that, from 2020 to 2021, they were a Process Development Scientist II for Gene Editing at PACT Pharma. Leo also worked at Demetrix from 2017 to 2020, initially as a Scientist in Genome Editing & Cell Engineering, and later as a Senior Scientist in the same field. Leo'sroles at Demetrix involved leading successful projects, developing microbial cell lines, and managing and developing junior scientists and associates. Leo's earlier experience includes being a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Synthetic Biology & Cell Engineering at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from 2013 to 2017, a Visiting Researcher in Bioengineering at Stanford University from 2009 to 2013, a Graduate Research Fellow in Synthetic Biology & Cell Engineering at California Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2013, a Research Assistant in Molecular Biology at Rockefeller University in 2005, and a Research Assistant in Biological Engineering and Chemical Engineering at Cornell University in various roles from 2001 to 2005.

Leo d'Espaux earned a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering and Biology from Caltech, which they attended from 2007 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at Caltech from 2005 to 2007. Leo d'Espaux's education began at Cornell University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from 2001 to 2005.
