Özgür Baykara

Özgür Baykara has a diverse work experience in the fields of regulatory compliance, legal consulting, and academia. In 2020, they worked at Metallicus as the Head Regulatory Compliance and prior to that, as the AML Officer for the EU Region. In 2021, they became the Chief Executive Officer at Metallicus UAB. From 2014 to 2019, Özgür worked at Tallinn University, starting as a Student Assistant, then becoming a Research Assistant, and ultimately a Lecturer in Law. In 2019, they joined Blockchain ConsultUs Ltd. as a Legal Consultant, providing legal support for blockchain projects. Özgür also worked at Noku AG and Noku North Europe as a Legal Compliance Officer/MLRO, ensuring compliance with AML/KYC/CTF regulations. In 2018, Özgür was a Visiting Researcher at the Danish Institute for Human Rights. Özgür started their career as a Legal Researcher at Intelometry in 2014. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant at Akyıldız Law Office and as a Manager Touroperating at Desti International N.V from 2008 to 2011.

Özgür Baykara holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in International Business Law from the University of Helsinki, which they pursued starting in 2015. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in EU Law / International Law from Tallinn University, from 2012 to 2014. Özgür'searlier education includes BSc studies in Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where they studied from 2001 to 2006. Özgür Baykara also obtained an International Baccalaureate (IB) degree from the International School of The Hague between 1997 and 1999. In addition to their formal education, they have received certifications such as Anti-Financial Crime Training from FINTRAIL in August 2020, and Chainalysis KYT Certification from Chainalysis Inc. in July 2020.
