Clifton Bates

Clifton Bates has over 20 years of experience in safety management within the transportation sector. Currently serving as a Project Manager in Systems Safety at Metra Commuter Rail since March 2019, Clifton has previously held the position of System Safety Engineer. Prior experience includes serving as a Transit System Safety Officer at the Chicago Transit Authority and Lead System Safety Specialist at Amtrak. Additionally, Clifton worked for Norfolk Southern Corporation in various roles such as Trainmaster, Yardmaster, and Conductor. Clifton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health Technology from Northern Illinois University, earned between 1998 and 2002.
