Shujat Omer

Shujat Omer, CPA, CMA, CISA has a diverse work experience in the field of audit and technology governance. Shujat is currently working as the Director of Operational and IT Audit at Metrolinx, where they are responsible for providing audit and advisory support over the organization's IT and PRESTO systems, as well as managing audits over GO Operations Portfolio and Corporate Services. Before joining Metrolinx, Shujat worked at Manulife as the Director of Global Technology Governance and Control, overseeing technology governance and control initiatives globally. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior IT Audit Manager at Ontario Power Generation, where they were primarily responsible for planning and delivering IT audit services. Shujat also worked at Manulife Financial as the Director of IS Audit, where they managed audit work over technology office, IT operations, and information risk management. Shujat has also served as the Director of IT Audit at Sears Canada and held various roles at Sun Life Financial, including Internal Audit Manager, Senior IT Auditor, and Change Management Analyst. Shujat began their career as a Senior Technical Services Analyst at the University Health Network. Through their various roles, Shujat has gained extensive experience in audit management and overseeing IT systems and controls.

Shujat Omer, CPA, CMA, CISA has a diverse education history. In 1996, they began their studies at the University of Toronto, where they pursued a degree in Human Biology, which they completed in 2000. Shujat then went on to obtain an E-Commerce Post-Degree Diploma from Centennial College in 2001. In 2009, Shujat earned a Certificate in Fundamentals in Management Accounting from the University of Toronto. Finally, in 2015, they obtained their CPA, CMA designation from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada). Additionally, Shujat has acquired several additional certifications, including ACL Certified Data Analyst, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and ITIL Practitioner Level.
