Ellen Whitten has several years of experience in diverse roles, primarily in the field of communications and development. Ellen began their career as a Development Intern at the Germantown Performing Arts Center, where they assisted the Director of Development and played a role in creating brochures and editing grant proposals. Following this, they worked as a Development Assistant at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, where they updated records, prepared mass mailings, and cataloged donations.
Later, Ellen joined MIFA (Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association), starting as a Communications Associate. In this position, they managed publications and e-newsletters, maintained the organization's website and social media accounts, and provided creative input on marketing and fundraising campaigns. Their responsibilities expanded as they took on the role of Grants & Foundations Officer, serving as the chief writer for internal and external publications, grant proposals, executive correspondence, and speeches. Additionally, they managed the production schedules for various communication pieces and marketing/fundraising collateral. Ellen's most recent role at MIFA is Continuous Improvement Administrator, where they oversee impact and communication efforts.
Ellen Whitten attended Rhodes College from 2002 to 2006, where they pursued a degree in Creative Writing with a focus on English. Following this, they pursued further education at The University of Memphis from 2008 to 2012, earning a Master's degree in Nonprofit Administration with a specialization in Nonprofit Administration.
