Matthew Truss is an accomplished countertenor and teaching artist with extensive experience in vocal performance and education. Currently serving as a Teaching Artist at the National Choral Council Inc and the National Chorale at the Professional Performing Arts School since September 2016, Matthew specializes in vocal technique, musicianship, and choral ensembles. Additional roles include Teaching Artist for The Metropolitan Opera Guild and Staff Singer - Alto I at Abyssinian Baptist Church. With a rich freelance career that began in 2006, Matthew has gained recognition for a "mellifluous voice" and has participated in contemporary and premiere opera roles. Previous positions include Alto Section Leader at First Parish of Cambridge and various teaching and administrative roles at Berklee College of Music from 2006 to 2016. Matthew holds a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with an opera emphasis from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
