Stephen Kent has over 20 years of experience in financial management, with a focus on higher education. Stephen currently serves as the Vice President of Finance and Operations at Metropolitan State University. Prior to their current role, Stephen served as the Vice President of Finance and Facilities at North Hennepin Community College from 2017 to 2020.

From 2012 to 2014, Stephen served as the Chief Financial Officer/Comptroller for United States Forces Korea (USFK). In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the command’s $420 million budget and coordinating the development and execution of financial policies between USFK and the Republic of Korea.

Stephen is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and earned their bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. Stephen also holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Stephen Kent earned their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management with a concentration in Comptrollership. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Alcorn State University, where they majored in Business Administration and Management. Stephen is also a Certified Defense Financial Manager with Acquisition certification from the American Society of Military Comptrollers.
