Cate Contino Cowit

Cate Contino Cowit is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in transportation and community engagement. Currently serving as Director of Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority since July 2016, Cate leads initiatives for bus network redesign, coordinates public engagement events, and collaborates with city agencies to enhance bus operations. Previously, Cate held various roles at the New York Public Interest Research Group, including Straphangers Campaign Coordinator, where responsibilities encompassed managing citywide transit advocacy campaigns and overseeing outreach programs. Additional experience includes directing legislative affairs for MTA and working in educational settings. Cate holds a B.A. in Linguistics and Cognitive Science from the University at Albany.
