Matthew Lazo, AICP, serves as a Senior Transportation Planner at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority since November 2020, focusing on Bus Network Redesign, battery electric bus transition strategies, and community outreach for special projects across New York City Transit. Previously, Lazo held roles including Transportation Planner for Bus Network Redesign, Excelsior Fellow at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and Planning and Development Intern at Long Island City Partnership. Lazo's experience also includes research and policy analysis at the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission and operations management at Frip. Lazo co-founded Guidance to the Legal Empowerment of the Youth and has held various leadership positions within relevant organizations. Educational credentials include a Master of Urban Planning in Transportation Planning from Hunter College and a Bachelor of Science in Geology/Earth Science from The City College of New York.
