Katherine Rainone

Katherine Rainone, AICP, is a skilled professional in transportation resiliency and regional economics with extensive experience in various environmental and sustainability roles. Currently serving as a Transportation Resiliency Planner at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments since November 2022, Katherine previously worked as a Regional Economist at the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, where economic indicators were monitored to support local governments. Previous positions include roles as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Technical Solutions Specialist and LEED Certification Associate at the U.S. Green Building Council, and several positions focused on communication and fundraising in non-profit organizations. Katherine holds advanced degrees in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, Environmental Planning and Management, and Economics, supported by a certificate in Sustainability and Behavior Change.
