Adel Hagekhalil

Adel H Hagekhalil, PE, BCEE, WEF FELLOW, currently serves as Chief Executive and General Manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and holds various board member positions at Southern California Water Coalition, BizFed Institute, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. With extensive experience with the City of Los Angeles, Adel led the Bureau of Street Services as General Manager and served as Assistant Director for the Bureau of Sanitation, managing vital sanitation functions. Contributions to the National Association of Clean Water Agencies include co-chairing the Arid States & Reuse Workgroup and past presidencies advocating for clean water utilities. Additionally, participation in the Water Sector Coordinating Council has focused on security risks in the water sector. Adel's educational background includes advanced degrees in Hydrology, Water Resources Science, and Civil Engineering from the University of Houston, along with an Executive Management degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
