Vinay Kumar has a diverse and extensive work experience in the medical field. Vinay started their career in 1990 as the Director of Ambulatory Care Clinic at MetroWest Medical Center. Vinay then went on to work as a Geriatric Consultant at Marlboro Hospital from 1991 to 1996. In 1992, they became an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, a role they held until 2016. Throughout this time, they also held various positions including Medical Director at Secure Horizons Tufts Senior HMO, President at Assabet Valley Physician Organization, and Internal Medicine Physician at Internal Medicine & Geriatrics. In 1996, they joined Charles River Medical Associates, where they served as a Physician, Pod Director, and eventually became the Medical Director & President. In 2005, they became the Medical Director at Wingate Nursing Home, and from 2007 to 2018, they served as the Medical Director of Marlboro Hills Health Care & Rehab. Currently, they are an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, starting in 2017.
Vinay Kumar completed their education in a chronological order. Vinay first attended King George's Medical College from 1974 to 1982, where they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in the field of Medicine. Following this, from 1983 to 1984, they pursued a Psychiatry Residency Program at Columbia University. Subsequently, they enrolled in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Boston University School of Medicine, completing it from 1984 to 1987.
In addition to their formal education, Vinay Kumar obtained several certifications. Vinay became Board Certified in Geriatrics by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1992. In 2005, they received recertification in Geriatrics from the same institution. Lastly, in 2015, Vinay Kumar obtained the certification of Certified Medical Director from the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, Inc.
