Kirsi Valanne is a Senior Specialist in ICT at Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland since May 2013. Valanne previously served as a Coordinator at the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) from August 2022 to July 2023 and held the position of GIS Coordinator at the Finnish Museum of Natural History from September 2011 to May 2013. Expertise in Geographical Information Systems was developed while working as an Expert at the Finnish Environment Institute from 1996 to 1999 and at the Forestry Development Centre Tapio from January 2000 to September 2011. Initial experience included a role as a Trainee/Visiting Scientist at Natural Resources Canada in 1995 and several short-term contracts as a Research Assistant at the Finnish Forest Research Institute from 1991 to 1995. Kirsi Valanne holds a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Helsinki.
