Jeff Malehorn Principal at L3.0 Ventures, LLC. He was formerly the senior advisor of World Business Chicago (WBC), where he was responsible for the attraction, expansion, and retention of companies in Chicago. Jeff led the implementation of the Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs, which was produced by WBC at Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s request and is the outline for the city's overarching economic development efforts. A GE company officer since 2001 and Chicagoland resident since 2004, Jeff was previously president and CEO of GE Capital, Commercial Distribution Finance. Additionally, he served as co-leader for GE Capital, Americas Commercial Council. Prior to that, he served four years as president and CEO of GE Healthcare Financial Services, another global business based in Chicago.
An experienced global leader who has spent the majority of his career growing financial services businesses, Jeff was president and CEO of GE Commercial Finance’s Global Financial Restructuring business based in Tokyo, where he led teams buying distressed debt in Europe, Asia and the Americas. He also led GE Real Estate’s European business for three years based in Paris. Throughout his career, he has held positions in risk, portfolio and operations management as well as business development and process improvement with leadership roles in the Connecticut/New York/New Jersey tri-state area and southern California. A 28-year GE veteran, Jeff started his career in GE's financial management program after graduating from Penn State University. He then conducted and led numerous financial and operating business reviews with a four-year leadership development assignment in GE's corporate audit staff.
Passionate about giving back to his community, Jeff served as GE’s Chicago corporate citizenship leader, where he has fostered numerous corporate-civic partnerships. He was the executive sponsor for GE Capital’s global HealthAhead program. He co-chaired the United Way’s Tocqueville Society and serves on the campaign cabinet, and co-chaired Workforce Chicago’s Business Leadership Group. He is the outgoing Metropolitan Chicago American Heart Association board chairman and is a board member for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Junior Achievement, and was a founding midwest board member for BuildOn.
