Terrence Smith

Terrence Smith is an experienced local government attorney currently serving as Section Chief in the Housing, Social Services and Economic Development Section at Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office since June 2020, while also holding the position of Assistant County Attorney at Miami-Dade County Attorney since June 2000. Smith has a diverse legal practice focusing on affordable housing, civil rights, and community redevelopment, representing various County departments and boards in collaboration with elected officials. Prior to these roles, Smith served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Florida Office of the Attorney General from 1998 to 2000, specializing in civil rights, and worked as a Staff Attorney and Director of the AIDS Legal Project at Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., from 1990 to 1998, dealing with public benefits, housing, and employment discrimination litigation. Smith earned a Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Carolina.
