Miami New Drama

Miami New Drama is the largest bilingual professional theater in America, based in Miami Beach, Florida committed to artistic excellence and groundbreaking work, with a vision of theater as a powerful form of social engagement. Founded by Artistic Director Michel Hausmann and National Medal of the Arts recipient Moisés Kaufman, in residence at the historic Colony Theatre on Miami Beach, the company focuses on the development of new plays and musicals in both English and Spanish, most notably the first ever multilingual adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s classic Our Town, Confessions of a Cocaine Cowboy by Billy Corben and Aurin Squire, Queen of Basel by Hilary Bettis, and the world premiere development of the new Louis Armstrong musical A Wonderful World. Miami New Drama is the winner of two Knight Arts Challenge awards and a Knight New Works Miami award from the Knight Foundation, and was the 2018 and 2022 Miami New Times Best Theater for Drama. Most recently MiND produced 7 Deadly Sins, a collection of new short plays by renowned playwrights, performed in vacant storefronts on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. The production, which was the largest live professional theater production in the United States, received national and international press and was extended twice, running from November 27, 2020 - January 31, 2021.
