John Hurley

John Hurley is an experienced leader in U.S. Army programs and projects. As National Market Lead, Army, he provides leadership to develop, support and execute Army projects, expand our Army services, grow our company’s Federal portfolio and establish Michael Baker as a go-to provider for the Department of Defense (DoD) and its supported clients.

John has 32 years of leadership, management and engineering experience, including 15 years serving in executive leadership positions with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and private industry, with a special focus on engineering, construction management, medical, energy, cybersecurity, environmental remediation, project and program management, and safety. His international engineering experience includes successfully delivering construction projects in Japan, Italy, Afghanistan and Iraq.

John was a colonel in the U.S. Army and commanded the USACE’s Huntsville Center, Japan District and Buffalo District, was the deputy commander of USACE’s Transatlantic Division and was executive officer to the Assistant Secretary of Army (Civil Works). He also taught Leadership at the United States Military Academy at West Point. His published works have appeared in Joint Force Quarterly and Teaching Sociology.
