Michigan Philharmonic
Mauricio Betanzo is an accomplished cellist with extensive experience in various orchestras and educational roles. Since September 2012, Mauricio has performed as a cellist with both the Dearborn Symphony and the Michigan Philharmonic. Additionally, Mauricio has been a cellist with The Maryland Symphony Orchestra since 2004, contributing to the ensemble for nearly two decades. Prior to these, Mauricio played with the String Poets from 2003 to 2012 and served as a cello teacher at both the Landon School and Holton-Arms School from 2004 to 2008. Mauricio holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance from The Catholic University of America, a Performance Residency Program in Cello Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Music in Cello and Cello Pedagogy from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

The Michigan Philharmonic is a fully professional regional orchestra under the direction of Nan Washburn and performs concerts throughout SE Michigan. Our program includes a 6-8 season concerts, an annual performance of The "Nutcracker" numerous special events and the CLASSical Music Outreach Program. In addition the Michigan Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, for students 8-18, includes 2 levels of strings, the youth symphony and a flute choir.
