Areej Alsheikh

Bioinformatician at Microba Life Sciences

Dr Areej Alsheikh is an internationally educated bioinformatician working to develop bioinformatics methods and pipelines to process metagenomic sequence data at Microba. With several years of experience across research and bioinformatics, she brings a highly skilled approach to the analysis of large molecular datasets for clinical and research purposes. Dr Alsheikh received her PhD in bacterial genomics and bioinformatics from The University of Queensland and her Master’s in marine science from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, with her thesis conducted at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, USA. Dr Alsheikh also spent time at Masdar Institute in Abu Dhabi (UAE) as a research engineer and is responsible for several innovative pipelines used in Microba’s bioinformatics function.
