James Kusena PhD

James Kusena, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. James is currently the Vice President of Operations at MicrofluidX, where they are a member of the executive committee involved in strategic planning and decision-making for the company. James is responsible for overseeing the operations department, including quality and regulatory functions, accounting, procurement, and office management. James also facilitates alignment across departments, such as Research & Development, Product Development, and Commercial.

Prior to their current position, James served as the Vice President of Bioprocess & Applications at MicrofluidX. In this role, they were responsible for the bioprocessing department, overseeing the planning and execution of research activities and providing organizational infrastructure and resource management.

In addition to their work at MicrofluidX, James has held the position of Non-Executive Director at Kwamuka Investment Holdings, where they provided strategic guidance on investment opportunities and internal governance. James led a major restructuring that streamlined operations and positioned the company for sustained growth.

James also has experience as a Co-Founder at DGK Investment Holdings, where they played a critical role in the company's formation and growth. James Kusena PhD has an extensive education history. In 2011, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Keele University. James then pursued further studies and from 2015 to 2019, they attended Loughborough University where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering.

In 2018, James also attended a Summer School at the University of Toronto, focusing on the Commercialization of Regenerative Medicines.

Their education continued with executive programs. In 2022, they completed Executive Education in Executive Strategy at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Furthermore, James obtained various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. These include Strategic Decision Making for Leaders from Bayes Business School, Leadership Coaching Strategies and Strategic Leadership from Professional Development - Harvard Division of Continuing Education, and Finance for Non-Financial Directors from In Professional Development (InPD).
