Francesca Parmigiani is a Principal Research Manager at Microsoft Research, where they lead the analog optical computing project within the Future AI Infrastructure team. Previously, they served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) from 2010 to 2018, for which they received a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship to explore nonlinear parametric processes in telecommunications. Francesca held the position of Principal Research Fellow at ORC from 2018 to 2023 and briefly worked as a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge in 2021. They earned a PhD and a Bachelor's and Master's in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano between 2003 and 2006. Francesca is also recognized as an Optica Fellow.
