Erik Niels Boerma has worked in a variety of engineering roles since 2006. From 2006 to 2011, they worked as an Engineer Special Projects at Handicare Group where they developed a wheelchair with rubber suspension. From 2011 to 2017 they worked as a Lead Engineer at Irmato (Taken over by FMI). During this time they were responsible for the technical content of projects and translating customer requests into technical requirements. From 2017 to 2020 they worked as a Lead Engineer at IAI Industrial Systems B.V. and from 2019 to 2020 they were a Lead Engineer at VDL ETG Projects B.V. In 2021 they began working as a Lead Engineer at Microsure, where they are designing an end-effector for their microsurgery robot MUSA. In 2022 they will become part of the hybrid teacher team at Fontys Hogeschool Eindhoven, where they will be guiding students in their graduation phase.
Erik Niels Boerma obtained their Master degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the Technische Universiteit Delft in 2003. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including a Beckhoff voor professionals (basistraining) from Beckhoff.nl in 2013, a CE - Machinerichtlijn (2 daagse cursus) from D&F Consulting B.V. in 2013, a PL (Performance Level) Basiscursus veiligheidssystemen from D&F Consulting B.V. in 2013, a TwinCAT 2 NC PTP cursus from Beckhoff.nl in 2013, a Cleanroom Gedrag Cursus from VCCN in 2012, and a FMEA (2 daagse cursus) in 2008.
