Michael Westhoven

Product Leader at Micruity

Michael Westhoven has extensive work experience in the financial industry, particularly in retirement and investment solutions. Michael is currently the Managing Director of Sales Implementation & Business Development at TIAA since 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Micruity as a Product Leader in 2020, where they specialized in eliminating barriers and improving retirement solutions. Michael also has experience in retirement product and delivery consulting, having worked in that field from 2018 to 2020.

From 2012 to 2018, Michael was the Business Leader for Retirement Income Solutions at DST Systems, where they led product development, sales, and strategy. Michael also served as the VP of Institutional Retirement Group at Genworth Financial from 2005 to 2012, focusing on the integration of lifetime income investments into defined contribution plans.

Earlier in their career, Michael held various roles at GE Capital, including Vice President roles in annuity product management and as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Michael achieved significant sales growth and led quality improvement projects during their tenure.

Before entering the financial industry, Michael served as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer in the United States Air Force from 1989 to 1993. Michael was a decorated Air Force Captain responsible for managing flight line operations and supporting the first Gulf War.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated expertise in retirement solutions, product development, sales, strategy, and quality improvement.

Michael Westhoven has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Michael also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition to their academic qualifications, Michael has obtained certifications including the Series 26 Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Principal Examination and the Series 6 Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products, both from FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority).
