Alex Fikar BB(ASCP)CM is a Clinical Scientist II at Mid-America Transplant since November 2018, where responsibilities include participating in clinical research studies related to organ and tissue transplantation. Previously, Fikar worked as a Blood Bank Technologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, managing blood typing and cross-matching processes. Additional experience includes serving as a Laboratory Supervisor at Saint Louis Pain Consultants, overseeing high complexity testing, and as Clinical Staff at Total Access Urgent Care. Fikar also has a background as a Scientific Researcher at Maryville University of Saint Louis, with expertise in various laboratory techniques and grant writing. Fikar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Maryville University of Saint Louis.

Since 1974, Mid-America Transplant has served as the regional organ and tissue procurement organization for eastern Missouri, southern Illinois, and northeast Arkansas, serving 4.7 million people in 84 counties. From our founding goal to assist in the coordination of kidney donations, we have grown to become a multi-faceted organization dedicated to saving lives and enhancing the quality of all donated organs and tissues currently available for transplant. Located in Saint Louis, Missouri, Mid-America is one of 56 federally designated organizations of its kind in the United States. Mid-America Transplant's primary service offering is to facilitate and coordinate the organ and tissue donation process.
