Andrea Vaccari

Andrea Vaccari is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Middlebury College since July 2018. With a strong background in image processing and analysis, Andrea’s research primarily focuses on model-based approaches to analyze large datasets, including images, videos, and spatiotemporal point clouds, aimed at object detection, tracking, and behavior characterization. Previous roles include Lecturer at the University of Vermont and Research Scientist at the University of Virginia, where Andrea contributed to projects involving remote sensing applications using Synthetic Aperture Radar and biomedical imagery related to neuronal degeneration. Early career experience also includes positions as Electronics Engineer at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and Research Assistant at Universita' degli Studi di Milano. Andrea holds a PhD in Image Processing from the University of Virginia and a Laurea Magistrale in Physics from Università degli Studi di Milano.
