Dan Courcey

VP, Advancement at Middlebury College

Dan Courcey is the VP of Advancement at Middlebury College. Dan has previously served as the Chief Development Officer at Choate Rosemary Hall, where they were responsible for all aspects of Development, Parent and Alumni Relations. During their time at Choate, Courcey successfully launched and directed the largest capital campaign in Connecticut private school history, exceeding the campaign goal by $20MM. Dan also personally solicited and secured 49 $1MM+ campaign contributions.

Courcey has also been integral to the successful transition of Choate from a 20-year Headmastership to a new Head of School-Board Leadership Team. Dan has coordinated and (in many cases, singlehandedly) secured the solicitation of all major gifts associated with the design and construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing ones, such as the Tenney and Bernard House Dormitories, The Kohler Environmental Center, The Edward and Cameron Lanphier Center for Mathematics and Computer Science, St. John Hall Student Center, a new auditorium/music center/dance facility, and the Paul Mellon Arts Center. In total, they have raised more than $120MM in post-capital campaign funds.

Courcey’s work has not only increased parent contributions to Choate but has also helped the institution evolve from a campaign-based fundraising operation. Dan's dedication to their work and achievements have made him an invaluable asset to Middlebury College.

Dan Courcey attended Bowdoin College where they studied history and German. Dan then went on to earn their master's degree in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies from Wesleyan University.

Dan Courcey reports to Laurie L. Patton, President. They are on a team with Nicole Curvin - Dean of Admissions, Mike Thomas - VP, Administration, and Vijay Menta - VP, Information Technology Services.
