Hirona Arai

Hirona Arai serves as a CS Peer Tutor for Software Development and Programming Languages at Middlebury College's Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research, while also tutoring Japanese and conducting research under Sayaka Abe, PhD, focusing on pragmatics and language variation. Previously, Hirona worked as a Research Intern at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, analyzing semantic changes in English loanwords and participating in cross-linguistic studies. Additional experience includes managing community outreach and marketing for Nishiogi Place, a startup incubator. Hirona's academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Linguistics from Middlebury College and ongoing doctoral studies in Computer Science at USC Viterbi School of Engineering.
