Lisa Gates

Project Co-lead, Social Science Research Methods (ssrm) at Middlebury College

Lisa Gates has extensive experience in higher education, currently serving as Project Co-Lead for the Social Science Research Methods project at Middlebury College since 2013, where efforts focus on developing open access educational modules. As Associate Dean for Fellowships and Research, Lisa organized the consolidation of fellowship advising and undergraduate research programs, significantly enhancing outreach and applicant diversity. Previously, positions at Middlebury College include Associate Dean of the College and Director of the Center for Education in Action, and Associate Dean for Planning and Assessment, where responsibilities included college accreditation processes. Additional experience includes a visiting assistant professorship at Kenyon College and various roles at Wesleyan University, including Class Dean. Lisa's early career involved managing an NEH-funded research project at Duke University. Educational credentials include a PhD in German from Harvard University and a BA in German and Women's Studies from Dartmouth College.
