Shelby Kimmel

Shelby Kimmel is an accomplished academic in the field of computer science, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Middlebury College since July 2017. Previously held positions include Visiting Assistant Professor at Middlebury College and QUICS Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland from September 2014 to June 2017. Kimmel completed a PhD in Quantum Information at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research focused on quantum computing. Experience also includes internships and graduate roles at BBN Technologies, emphasizing the development of protocols for quantum process tomography, and a summer research internship at the University of Waterloo on quantum query complexity. Early career experience includes teaching English through Fulbright Korea to approximately 500 students in rural South Korea. Kimmel holds a BA in Astrophysics from Williams College.
