Sofia Makarova

Sofia Makarova is a professional with diverse experience in education, language services, and event organization. Currently serving as a US-Russia Pre-Professional Network Ambassador at the Russian American Foundation since February 2021, Sofia is responsible for creating digital content, organizing virtual events, and translating documents. Additionally, Sofia has been a language tutor for Russian at Middlebury College since October 2019. Previous roles include swim coach at the Middlebury Swimming Club Inc. and freelance translator for the Opera Company of Middlebury Inc., where Sofia translated the Joan of Arc Opera from Russian to English. Earlier experience includes live interpreting and administrative support for youth programs at the Russian American Foundation and BBSI, alongside lifeguarding and camp counseling positions. Sofia holds a Bachelor's degree in International/Global Studies from Middlebury College and a high school diploma from Mercersburg Academy.
