David Mikaelian

Design Lead at miDiagnostics

David Mikaelian has had a diverse range of work experiences. David started as an Assistant in Chemistry-Physics and Process Engineering at Université libre de Bruxelles from September 2010 to June 2014. During this time, they also served as an Aspirant F.R.S.-FNRS, studying the dynamics and morphology of confined and unconfined bubbles and their transfer of matter to the surrounding liquid. David then worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the same university from October 2014 to December 2014.

In 2016, David joined imec as an R&D Engineer in Life Science Technologies, where they stayed until May 2020. During their time at imec, they gained valuable experience in research and development.

In May 2020, David founded their own consulting company, DMK Consulting, and served as its founder until present.

In 2020, David also joined miDiagnostics as a Fluidic Designer, contributing their expertise to the development of a test card for an ultrafast PCR test for COVID detection. In June 2021, they were promoted to the role of Design Lead, taking on the responsibility of supporting the scale-up for test card mass production. The product has now been successfully launched in the market.

Overall, David Mikaelian has an extensive background in research, development, and consulting within the fields of chemistry, physics, and engineering.

David Mikaelian completed their general secondary education at Collège Saint-Pierre Jette from 1999 to 2005. David then went on to obtain a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Civil Engineering in Chemistry and Materials Science from Université libre de Bruxelles, completing their studies in 2010. Subsequently, David pursued a Doctorate degree in Engineering Sciences at the same university, which they completed in 2014.
