Tony Hopkin

Tony Hopkin has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries. Tony is currently a Board Member at Warwickshire Rural Housing Association Limited. Prior to this, they worked at Midland Heart as the Head of Construction, Quality, and Innovation, overseeing approximately 600 units per year worth around £150m. Tony also held the role of Quality Manager at Midland Heart, where they were responsible for managing quality on new developments, design, construction, and resolving post-completion defects.

Tony has also served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Reading, focusing on Construction Quality and Innovation. At De Montfort University, they were a Visiting Lecturer for Design and Quality, co-designing course content and facilitating accreditation.

In their previous role at NHBC, Tony held positions such as Technical Manager, Researcher, and Advisor. Tony was involved in developing and implementing strategies to improve construction quality, managing technical guidance systems, and researching housing defects.

Tony Hopkin has a diverse education history. Tony obtained an EngD degree in Housing Defects and Quality from the University of Reading between the years 2013 and 2017. Prior to that, they received an MSc in Management for Construction from Coventry University, which they completed in 2010. Tony also holds a BSc (hons) in Architectural Design Technology and Production from De Montfort University, awarded in 2009. In addition to their academic achievements, Tony has received several certifications, including Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council and Chartered Construction Manager (FCIOB) from The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in 2019. Tony also holds the certification of Chartered Building Engineer (FCABE) from the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, obtained in 2017. Furthermore, they obtained the Prince 2 Foundation and Practitioner certification from Provek in April 2015, and the Professional Certificate in Business Analysis Practice from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in 2014.
