Maria P Machancoses has a strong background in the field of transportation and infrastructure planning. Maria P started their career in 2008 as an Economic Development Manager at Centro (West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority). In this role, they contributed to the development and implementation of various economic development initiatives.

In 2012, Maria moved on to join the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority (WMCA) as the Head of Planning & Regeneration. During their tenure, they played a key role in the planning and redevelopment of transportation infrastructure projects in the West Midlands region.

In 2015, Maria joined Midlands Connect as a Program Director. Maria P successfully managed various programs aimed at improving transportation connectivity in the Midlands region. Their achievements in this role led to their promotion to the position of CEO of Midlands Connect in July 2018.

Maria P Machancoses completed their Degree in Law (LLM) from Universidad de Valencia, Spain, between 1990 and 1995. Maria P then pursued a MsC in International Transport from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, specializing in Rail in the UK, Transport Modelling, Air Transport, and International Law, from 1996 to 1997.

Midlands Connect researches, develops and recommends major transport projects which provide the biggest possible economic and social benefits for the Midlands and the rest of the UK. These initiatives will create more capacity for passengers and freight on the Midlands’ roads and railways. As the transport arm of the Midlands Engine, we work with local authorities, LEPs and Chambers of Commerce, as well as Highways England, Network Rail and the Midlands’ two international airports, to ensure national transport projects benefit the Midlands and Midlands projects benefit the nation.
