Chris Hurst has over 25 years of work experience in the insurance industry. Chris started their career at Allstate Insurance, where they held various pricing-related roles and served as the commercial lines pricing director. Chris then moved to Towers Watson, where they worked as a Consulting Actuary, specializing in competitive market analysis and predictive modeling. Currently, Chris is working at Midwest Employers Casualty (a Berkley Company) as the Vice President & Chief Actuary. In this role, they lead a team responsible for reviewing and establishing IBNR for various lines of business, as well as managing a team of modelers.
Chris Hurst graduated from Northwestern University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics. In 2014, they earned a Graduate Certificate in Data Mining and Applications from Stanford University. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained several certifications including the Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics from The CAS Institute in 2017, and various certifications in digital analytics and data analysis from Google Analytics and Coursera. Chris is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
