Rainer Baumann

Rainer Baumann serves as the Group Chief Information and Operating Officer at Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund since September 2019, overseeing a vast range of IT, technology, and digital operations, while leading significant transformation initiatives within the organization. Baumann has played a pivotal role in establishing strategic partnerships with major technology firms and enhancing cyber security and advanced analytics capabilities. Additionally, Baumann is a member of the executive committee at digitalswitzerland and the Swiss Re Industry Circle, as well as holding vice president and president positions on various boards, including Migrol AG and Migros Verteilbetrieb AG. Previous experience includes serving as CIO and CDO at Swiss Re, where critical digital strategies and transformation processes were developed. Baumann holds multiple advanced degrees from ETH Zurich and has completed various leadership and management programs through McKinsey & Company and Swiss Re Academy.
