Behzad Rafezy

Behzad Rafezy, PhD, PE, is a seasoned professional in structural engineering with extensive experience in research and development. Currently serving as Director of R&D for Advanced Analysis and Building Systems Technology at MiTek since February 2021, Behzad oversees innovative projects from ideation to implementation, ensuring product efficiency and safety through numerical simulations and experimental studies. Prior roles include Director of Research and Development at SidePlate Systems, Inc. and academic positions including Associate Professor at Sahand University of Technology and Visiting Professor at UCLA. With a robust educational background, including a PhD and postdoctoral fellowship from Cardiff University, Behzad has contributed to numerous high-profile projects as a structural designer and consultant across various sectors.
