Diego Illanes began their work experience as a medical student at Universidad Católica de Córdoba from 1994 to 1999. Diego then served in the United States Air Force as a Major from 2010 to 2018. After that, they worked as a Urogynecologist at Women's Health of Central Massachusetts from 2011 to 2012. From 2012 to 2019, they held various positions at Reliant Medical Group, including Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Division Director of Urogynecology. Diego also worked as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School from 2013 to 2019. In 2017, they served as the Director of Robotic Surgery at Saint Vincent Hospital. Diego then worked as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Saint Vincent Hospital from 2013 to 2016. Diego also worked as a Urogynecologist at MelroseWakefield Healthcare from 2021 to 2022. Currently, they are the Medical Director of Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Health at Milford Regional Physician Group since March 2022.
Diego Illanes has an extensive education history in the medical field. In 1994, they obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Universidad Catolica de Cordoba-Argentina. Diego then pursued a role as a Research Associate at Harvard Medical School from 2001 to 2004, where they focused on Molecular Biology.
Diego Illanes began their clinical training in 2004 as an Obstetrics and Gynecology Intern at Albany Medical College. Diego continued their residency at UMass Chan Medical School from 2005 to 2007, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2007, they served as the Administrative Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMass Chan Medical School for a year.
From 2008 to 2011, Diego Illanes furthered their education and expertise in Urogynecology by completing a Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School. Diego then pursued additional education at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine in 2015 and 2016, focusing on Medicine.
To complement their medical training, Diego Illanes also obtained certifications. In 2009, they became Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board Of Ob & Gyn. Diego further obtained certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology) in 2014, from the same institution.
Continuing their lifelong pursuit of knowledge, Diego Illanes is currently engaging in Executive and Continuing Professional Education at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Their studies revolve around "Leading in Health Systems: Integrating Effort, Improving Outcomes."
