Espen Larsen

Communications Adviser at Norwegian Environment Agency

Espen Larsen began their work experience as a journalist for Østlandets Blad in 1994 and continued in journalism roles at various companies such as Nationen, The Kingston Whig-Standard, and Dagsavisen. In 2000, they worked as a desk journalist for Nationen, and in 2001, they were a journalist for The Kingston Whig-Standard. Espen then worked as a communications adviser for the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment from August to October 2007. Espen later joined Miljødirektoratet (Norwegian Environment Agency) in 2004 as a communications adviser and initiated a podcast about climate change for municipalities in 2019.

Espen Larsen began their education journey in 1991 at Garden City Community College, where they completed one year of full-time studies in English, photography, drama, and design. In 1992, they enrolled at the University of South-Eastern Norway and completed one full year at the university level, focusing on history. Moving forward, Espen attended Carleton University from 1997 to 2001, earning a Bachelor of Journalism degree with a minor in Political Science. During this time, they studied journalism, philosophy, anthropology, and mass communications. Finally, in 2002 and 2003, Espen pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Environmental Change and Management at the prestigious University of Oxford.
