Amy Freeman

Amy Freeman serves as the Director of Development at The Wilderness Classroom Organization, a role held since September 2007, where the focus is on enhancing students' academic skills and environmental appreciation through wilderness exploration. As an author with Milkweed Editions since September 2017, Amy co-wrote "A Year in the Wilderness: Bearing Witness in the Boundary Waters," documenting a year spent in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to raise awareness against sulfide-ore copper mining. Additional experience includes managerial roles at Ely Outfitting Company and Wintergreen Dogsled Lodge, and active participation as an Adventure Activist for the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters. Amy holds a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Psychology from Macalester College.
