Andrew Schmer

Andrew Schmer is a seasoned underwriting professional with extensive experience in the insurance industry. Currently serving as a Senior Underwriting Specialist at MSI since November 2024, Andrew previously held the position of Director of Underwriting for Personal and Commercial Lines at WAX from July 2021 to November 2024, where significant focus was placed on strategic growth and client retention, achieving a 97% retention rate. Prior to this role, Andrew spent over 13 years at AIG, specializing in the collector automobile book of business, managing approximately $13 billion in exposure, and driving strategic growth initiatives. Earlier roles included positions as a Personal Lines Underwriter/Team Leader at Risk Placement Services, supervising a team and overseeing a $20 million book of business. Andrew holds an Associate's degree in Computer Network & Design from Island Drafting & Technical Institute.
