Carrie A. Merickel

Carrie Merickel is a Tax Principal in the State and Local Tax Group. Prior to joining Miller Cooper, she was a Director in the State and Local Tax Group at another public accounting firm where she served middle market and large clients. Ms. Merickel is responsible for the state and local tax compliance on many tax engagement projects and works closely with clients consulting on various state and local tax technical matters.

Ms. Merickel has over 12 years of experience advising clients on various state and local tax matters, such as income/franchise, sales/use, gross receipts and state credits and incentives. Her experience includes managing clients’ multistate income tax compliance, advising clients on state and local tax law nuances and opportunities, tax controversy, nexus studies and mitigation assistance, sales and use tax consulting, negotiating credit and incentive opportunities and state and local tax due diligence assistance.

Carrie began her career working two years as an attorney at a civil litigation law firm in Chicago.

Ms. Merickel earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Chicago Tax Club, Taxpayers Federation of Illinois and the Illinois CPA Society.
