Josephine Makanza

Josephine Makanza serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary at Millicom (Tigo) since March 2019, providing comprehensive legal support across various departments within one of Tanzania's leading telecommunication companies. Prior to this, Josephine was the Managing Partner at Makanza Legal Services from March 2015 to February 2019, offering corporate and company secretarial services. Josephine's experience also includes serving as Director of Legal and Administration at the Investment Climate Facility for Africa from July 2009 to December 2013, and holding roles as Governance Officer and later Head of Department for Regulatory Affairs at Vodacom Tanzania Limited from March 2006 to June 2009. Josephine began the professional career as a Senior Consultant in the Company Secretarial Department at KPMG from 1999 to May 2004. Josephine holds an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Cape Town and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
