Lead Data Scientist at Mimica Automation

Matthew Frampton has had a varied and impressive career in data science, engineering, and bioinformatics. In 2007, they began working as an Engineering Research Associate at Stanford University, where they developed systems that used machine learning to understand human spoken dialogue. In 2011, they became a Bioinformatician/Statistician at the Institute of Cancer Research, where they performed quality control and statistical analyses on next generation sequencing (NGS) and Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) data, and developed two software tools. In 2015, they became a Bioinformatician at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, where they developed and maintained scripts to analyze NGS data. In 2016, they became a Senior Research Associate in Bioinformatics and Statistical Genetics at University College London, where they performed quality control and statistical analyses on NGS and SNP array data. In 2017, they became a Consultant Data Scientist (part-time) at Lancaster University. Finally, in 2018, they joined Mimica Automation as the Lead Data Scientist and Senior Data Scientist, shortly after the company's seed-round completion. This year, the company secured Series A funding from a top Silicon Valley fund.

Matthew Frampton began their educational journey at the University of Cambridge, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Linguistics in 2001. Matthew then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science at The University of Edinburgh, which they completed in 2003. After that, they continued at The University of Edinburgh to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science in 2007. In 2018, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
